Mombo Parish is situated at the foot of Mount Usambara. The parish is at the folk roads connecting Soni, Lushoto, Korogwe, and Moshi.
Originally, Mombo was an outstation of Mazinde Parish. In 1960s before the church building was erected in Mombo, liturgical services were conducted in a small hall owned by the Mombo railway station. Most of the people who resided in Mombo at that time were employees from the local sisal plantations, timber factory, and railway station.
From early 1970s Mombo experienced the expansion of its population due to the increasing of small businesses. The increasing of Catholic population in this area led Rev. Fr. Donal Sullivan, I.C. and Brother Jim Marriot, I.C. to build a bigger church in early 1980s, the church which stands until these days. Later Rev. Fr. Anthony Mitchell, I.C. built sisters’ house and kindergarten.
Mombo was named a parish of its own in 1986. It served a number of outstations stretching from Kwalukonge in its south to Mwelya, Makuyuni, and Kwasunga in its east.
The native priest from Mombo Parish is: Andrew Shekuamba (2000).
